Let us recall, by definition, that International Women's Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. But wait! Do women need a special day to be celebrated? Every single day, she is creating miracles, casting magic. She has within herself, all that is needed – the hearts of gold, the brains of a sage, and the moves of a tornado.
The International Women's Day 2019 campaign theme of #BalanceforBetter is a call-to-action for driving gender balance across the world. With the present society lagging in equality and demanding women rights, it is vital for women to understand her self-worth and realize that all she must do is be proud of what she already is. Feminism largely means that she REALISES she is already the best thing the world has got instead of asking others to accredit it. As said by our great Tamil poet Subramania Bharathi, endless meritorious deeds result in the birth of a girl. She is in no way suppressed to anyone and does not need empowerment as long as she roars with the power inherited in her.
Women are the brains of any nation, for it is well known that the flair of a seed lies in the richness of the soil. She is the soul of any victory and any wisdom.
Let us take this day to break the stereotype that we had set upon ourselves. Let us thank all the women who taught their men not to place women in a situation to demand the equality that they already deserve. Let us pledge to teach the society what we already know. So, start today. Sing the song you wanted to sing, dance that move you wanted to dance, live the life you wanted to live, and do that magic that would awe the world!
